Dear RewardsCards.com,
Just thought you’d like to know that I used your website to apply for an HSBC CC expecting a 0$/12mo CC w/no-balance-transfer-fees. Instead they sent me a fee-charging CC for balance transfers (arrived yesterday). The application was clear and there were no mistakes on my side. I even spoke to someone over the phone at HSBC prior to sending over my application to confirm the terms of this ‘offer’ – which they confirmed AND requested I complete over the internet to get the terms of the offer.
On a side note, my credit rating is stellar so there’s no reason for them to brush off my application into another card. What’s also interesting is they issued a card with only 3500 in limit, vs. normal 20k – 30k. I’m sure you’ll find this info useful if you want to maintain a helpful website geared to non-fee charging CC’s for balance transfers. This one doesn’t make the grade. I just cancelled.

Thanks for writing about your problem with HSBC. This is the first I have heard about this and will look into it. It is always best to call the credit card issuer and keep asking for another rep until they finally make it work. Most reps just have no clue. Did you apply for a HSBC Rewards card or for a Household Bank Card? They are two totally different cards,

Hi again,
I applied for the HSBC rewards card, the one attached to the link from the webpage. The first guy I spoke to didn’t have a clue but the 2n’d one (whom actually spoke English properly) told me he’d honor the terms of the application if I went to the trouble of faxing him the application page, but I declined as that was way too much effort considering the ~$50 saved from their offer. I just cancelled & applied for one of the Citibank cards (Upromise) off your website.
Here’s the link I used:

Hope this helps.
