Those who decide to apply for the Platinum Card from American Express Exclusively for Morgan Stanley will receive many of the same benefits that cardholders with the other Amex card receive, as well as a large number of additional benefits. There is no introductory year of $0 annual fees for this card; the annual fee is $450. However, Platinum cardholders also have until December 31 to convert their Morgan Stanley Smith Barney points into Amex membership points. Like the other Amex card from Morgan Stanley Smith Barney, Platinum cardholders will receive an anniversary bonus each year if they spend a minimum amount on their card. For Platinum members, spending at least $100,000 by their anniversary date each year will result in the receipt of a $500 anniversary rewards spend.

Cardholders that spend at least $1,000 during the first three months of being a Platinum cardholder will receive 50,000 Amex rewards points. Additionally, Platinum cardholders will receive complimentary access to certain airlines’ private airport lounges; this includes the American Airlines Admiral’s Club, the Delta Sky Club and the US Airways Club. There are more than 600 of these private lounges at airports all over the world.

Each year, Platinum cardholders will receive up to $200 in statement credits for checked luggage fees and airline ticket change fees. This is a direct offer from the airlines that partner with American Express, which is a great way to recoup some of the fees spent each year on changing travel plans and checking luggage to and from vacation and business travel.

Both cards offer you the ability to add additional cards to the account. The Morgan Stanley Credit Card from American Express allows you to add as many additional cards with individual spending limits as you want to your account. The Platinum Card from American Express Exclusively for Morgan Stanley allows cardholders the ability to add one additional Platinum card to your account for no fee. You have the ability to set a specific spending limit on this additional card if you so choose.

Having an American Express card is a great way to make travel reservations, shop securely online and to earn membership rewards points that are redeemable for gifts, gift certificates and travel all over the world. The Amex cards offered by Morgan Stanley Smith Barney are great Amex cards to have because of the astonishing number of rewards points available for cardholders of either card.
