BP and United Airlines are offering BP Driver Rewards and United MileagePlus members the option of earning and using miles on fuel purchases at participating BP U.S. retail locations. You must register for this program to earn or redeem the miles.
You can Earn 200 bonus award miles after joining and making your first fuel purchase with a linked debit or credit card. Members can multiply their earnings through the following options:
- One award mile for every gallon of fuel purchased
- Two award miles for every gallon of fuel purchased with a linked debit or credit card
- Three award miles for every gallon of premium-grade fuel purchased with a linked debit or credit card
In addition, BP Driver Rewards and MileagePlus members will be able to use 60 MileagePlus award miles per gallon for $0.50 off per gallon on a maximum of 20 gallons (for a maximum of $10 off) per fuel purchase. To be eligible to use miles at participating BP stations, you must have an eligible form of payment linked to your Driver Rewards account and have at least 1,200 miles in your MileagePlus account at the time of purchase.
We tried to sign-up for the program and had no problems with the driver rewards but then tried to connect United Airlines and it kept giving us errors telling me to call an 800 number. I don’t have enough BP stations for the need to do that but if I plan on a big road trip this summer I will call and make sure it’s connected first to earn the miles on gas.
This program compares to that of Shell’s Fuel Rewards which has been very lucrative for me especially as a T-mobile customer.

by PointsGuru | Mar 28, 2017 | Mileage Plan, Virgin America Elevate
Alaska recently offered 10,000 bonus miles to anyone who had both an Alaska Mileage Plan and Virgin America Elevate account, and then linked them. They seem to still be doing that for some and anyone may be able to take advantage of this. If you are not yet a member of the Alaska Mileage Plan they have a fantastic new member bonus going on where you can earn 5,000 bonus Mileage Plan miles.
You just need to enroll here between March 23 and April 30, 2017, and complete an Alaska or Virgin America flight by September 30, 2017.
To qualify, the member must book a ticket eligible for earning Mileage Plan miles, and must credit it to their Mileage Plan account. You can receive the bonus a maximum of one time, and it’s not valid with any other Mileage Plan enrollment bonus.
Alaska has a long list of great airline partners where you can redeem miles for premium cabin travel. 5,000 miles is enough for a one-way ticket covering up to 700 flown miles. This is about $75 or so worth of free miles.

by PointsGuru | Jan 11, 2017 | Mileage Plan, Virgin America Elevate
The year started out with a big surprise for many members of Alaska Air’s Mileage Plan. They received an email saying they could link their mileage earning program to Virgin America and get a free 10,000 miles added to their account and the elite status. I was not signed up with Alaska Airlines when I heard about this offer so I quickly signed up and I was also able to get the free 10,000 miles and elite status match.
If you are a Virgin America Elevate member you can go here to the Alaska Mileage Plan. This follows Alaska’s takeover of Virgin America which closed a few weeks ago and gives a look at what their combined their loyalty programs will look like.
After I signed up I received an email saying:
Your Virgin America Elevate status is paying off on Alaska Airlines.
You’re now an MVP member. Your new benefits start with your choice of 10,000 bonus miles or $100 off any Alaska-operated flight when you activate your account.
Once you activate your account, you can get 30% more miles when you convert your Elevate points to Mileage Plan miles and then redeem your miles on Alaska, Virgin America, and our global airline partners. Want to know more about your membership? Take a video tour of Mileage Plan and learn more about our generous benefits. The elite benefits you will enjoy are:
» 50% bonus on base miles earned
» Complimentary seat upgrades to First Class and Premium Class upon availability
» Two free checked bags for you and a companion
» Priority check-in and boarding
» Discounted Alaska® Lounge membership
You should notice the 10,000 bonus miles appearing in your accounts with the description “SPECIAL SERVICES ELEVATE MEMBER OTO 10K BONUS.”
I did have some trouble getting the form to work online and process correctly so I had to call in to the customer service number for Mileage Plan but that only took a few minutes. It was absolutely worth the trouble for MVP status with Alaska Airlines and 10,000 free miles. With the 30% bonus on transferred miles from Virgin America I plan on transferring them all to Alaska.
