2. Take 10+ trips this month
3. Enjoy the VIP perks next month
4. Continue this trip trend monthly to keep VIP access
VIP has no additional cost. Rates are the same as uberX. There are limited VIP vehicles on the road, so wait times may vary. To keep your VIP status, you must complete 10 rides per month. VIP will automatically be added to your account at the beginning of every month. The great thing is that you will gain VIP only access to the highest rated driver-partners and top vehicles on the road. You will also have advance access to much anticipated Uber promotions such as uberKITTENS. Plus, enjoy monthly giveaways and exclusive discounts for VIP riders only.
My Take
I personally have taken UberX VIP in Dallas a few times this month and not really noticed anything different. If anything, I was not impressed with the VIP drivers at all. One took a few wrong turns and the other almost made me late to an appointment. You basically have to open your app like normal but press on the VIP icon to the right and it will charge you the same rate as UberX. It may even take longer for that ride to arrive because the selection of drivers is narrower. One driver had to come 12 minutes away to get me. I have also not seen any exclusive discounts, giveaways, or rewards from this new program 11 days into it. It will be exciting if they truly come up with a rewards program that keeps us more loyal to Uber vs. Lyft or other apps especially with the Capital One Quicksilver 20% back ending this month. I plan to switch to Lyft for rides in May once the Quicksilver promotion ends.
