Here’s some of the best ways to earn more through your Lyft rides:

  • Earn 2 Delta SkyMiles for every $1 spent on Lyft rides (DeltaLyft.com)
  • Earn 3 Hilton Honors Points for every $1 spent on Lyft rides. Just connect with Hilton here.
  • Drop App has been the most generous as i’ve earned hundreds in gift cards just connecting my credit cards that I take my Lyft rides with (it pays on Uber as well). This earns around 2% on each ride.
  • Use Freebird app to order your Lyft rides ($5 off your first two rides with code a4436)
  • Ebates/Rakuten is offering up to a $1 cash back on each ride but you have to open the Rakuten (formerly Ebates) app before each ride and for most it’s only 25 cents but it adds up to more than 1% sometimes.
  • 20% Cash Back on Lyft Rides – Pay with SoFi Money and earn a FULL 20% back up to $1,000 in rewards and get a $50 Bonus when you sign-up. Stack this with the above offers.

Get 10% off scheduled airport rides

Now when you pay with your World Elite Mastercard, you’ll save on scheduled rides to any US airport. With your card on file, you’ll continue to earn a $5 Lyft credit when you take 3 rides per month.

Additional ways to earn cash back with Lyft rides:

  • Get $10 in Lyft credit each month when you use your World Elite MasterCard
  • Earn $5 in personal Lyft credits for every 5 business rides you take (just set-up a business profile). This is the only one that is not stackable if you do the MasterCard promo.

Most of these options can stack together, so make sure you maximize every dollar and ride you take with Lyft. One of the reasons we take Lyft over Uber is because of all of these amazing points and cash back promos that are added to each ride automatically without us doing anything but setting it up one time. This saves us hundreds a year in cash back and points on each ride!

5% Back on Lyft
Enjoy a 5% cashback on your Lyft purchases during various quarters when you sign up for either Discover It or Chase Freedom. This promotion is good for up to $75 cash back on purchases up to $1,500.

Lyft is rapidly expanding the number of US cities
Living in a Lyft-less city? The ride-hailing company plans to launch in 100 new US cities by the end of the year, bringing the total number of cities it serves to 300. Lyft just rolled out service in 40 new cities. Lyft is showing more aggression than before because this is the same number of cities it launched in all of 2016.

Round Up & Donate To A Charity

Lyft plans to launch a new feature called Round Up and Donate. Opt in, and they’ll automatically round up your total fare to the nearest whole dollar and push the difference towards issues impacting everyone everywhere. They should be sending out more details soon on this new feature. This comes after Ride Austin has raised thousands over SXSW weekend in Austin with their Opt-in feature. This probably means that Lyft is looking for a way to differentiate itself as the good vs. Uber who is having a horrible year in PR. You can also bet they will be trying to get back in Austin after this launch. I am sure Ride Austin does not mind them copying the idea as Ride Austin completely stole Uber’s app design much like Facebook has copied much of Snapchat features.

Save $20 On A Lyft Premier Ride (Including For Existing Users)
Lyft recently introduced Lyft Premier, which is intended to compete with UberSELECT and UberBLACK. Basic ridesharing services offered by Lyft and Uber are less than the cost of a taxi in most cities but their premium services are typically more than a taxi while giving riders a classier experience. Lyft Premier is advertised as offering a high-end sedan or SUV such as a BMW, Audi, or an Escalade with leather seats. Lyft Premier is only available in San Francisco, Silicon Valley, New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. If you haven’t yet experienced Lyft Premier, you can get $20 off your next ride, even if you’re an existing Lyft user. Just make sure you are signed up for Lyft and they will send you this targeted promo. (Update: I received a personal target $10 credit in my account January 26, 2017 for this promotion.)

10 for 10 Loyalty Discount (Targeted Offer)
Take 10 rides in February and get 25% off 10 rides in March 2017! Just take 10 rides in February and Lyft will drop a discount for 25% of 10 rides right into your account. Offer only for Lyft users who received this email offer directly from Lyft. User must complete 10 rides between 12:01am 2/1/16 and 11:59pm 2/28/16 to receive 25% off 10 Lyft Classic rides taken between 12:01am 3/1/17 and 11:59pm 4/4/17. The credit will be added to User account on or before 3/5/17. Discount does not apply to tips, cancellation fees, damage charges, or taxes. Subject to Lyft’s Terms of Service.

Lyft Vs. Uber
My favorite thing about Lyft is that they show the image of the car on the app vs. Uber. You will know the color of the car picking you up. They have also updated their app with Simplified Ride Requests where you have access to all ride options with a single tap and able to compare their ETAs side-by-side. You can see price estimate, contact drivers, and split fares from the same place. We are also loving the new fresh design with new icons, new colors, and a next-level glow. With Lyft, You can cancel a ride within 5 minutes of requesting without being charged a $10 cancellation fee in most cases.

Lyft’s largest rival, Uber, operates in 450 cities worldwide. Lyft’s aggressive US growth, however, suggests the company is planning to launch its service outside the US soon in cities such as Montreal, Canada!

Lyft has expanded a lot since our first post about the rideshare company. They are also back in Austin and Houston now after a heated debate.
