Silvercar Rental Review
I first learned about Silvercar when they came to Dallas a few years ago but never really had a need for them because they were not in a city I had planned to rent a car in until now. I’ve seen all the sites from Ebates to Retailmenot posting promo codes but never really understood how the car rental site worked compared to Budget or Hertz.com.
Pretty sure I have the hang of it now and just in time for a last minute July 4th Vacation in Denver, CO. I have been so worried about this trip because my family will be outside of Denver and I will need a rental car of some kind. So I researched on Kayak.com and then over on the Citi Thank You points site. I also looked over at Budget.com where I am used to putting in coupon codes to save 20% or so.
Well I found out that it is nearly impossible to get a good deal on a rental car last minute but I just rented an Audi cheaper than it would cost for an Economy car at Fox Rent-a-Car or Budget. Hassle-free where I use an App to pick it up. Kayak was a bit cheaper than Budget at $106.52 a day with $426.07 for an economy car from Fox Rent-a-car. You know you will get no free XM Radio with that mess. The Audi Silvercar came out to be $347 total including taxes.
The Silvercar worked out perfect because I found a code to get a free day rental reducing it from $89 a day to $67 a day. This would be entered when you plug in the reservation dates and times where it says promo code: VME. Plus I used a referral code of VME to get $25 extra bonus by going in the referral section. You can stack these which is great over at Silvercar.com.
While New Customers can get $50 Off First Audi A4 Rental with the promo code of AFF-FTD but the free day promo code of VME worked out better for me.
Some notes about Silvercar is that every car is an Audi A4 for around $59 a day and up. Although at the Denver International Airport I noticed they have a Q4 available for around $100 a day. You get Heated leather seats, Sunroof and Free GPS & XM Sirius Satellite Radio that you normally pay $10 a day extra for at least normally. No charge for using the cars tollway pass. Normally with Budget or Avis Rent-a-car you have to pay a daily rate once you go through the tollway booth.
The Silvercar Tanks are refilled at market price + a $5 flat fee. Nothing is worse than almost missing a flight being worried about filling up a tank for one of the big chain car rental places where they charge an arm and a leg in fees for this.
You get Free in-car wifi. I have to see this to believe it. Can’t wait to try it out. On top of all of this you get picked up from the airport and dropped off in an Audi.
