The company is not offering the discounts in Orlando, but Recode reported that Uber is offering free rides to family members of the shooting victims.

“Like people across the world, we were deeply shocked and saddened by the recent murders at a gay nightclub in Orlando,” the company said in one blog post. “The world is a brighter and better place when we are all free to be ourselves. And we want to bring people together, no matter who you are or where you’re from.”

The shooting at Pulse nightclub was the deadliest terrorist attack on American soil since Sept. 11, 2001, and the nation’s bloodiest mass shooting. Uber is either one of the most liked or one of the most hated companies out there when it comes to how they pay their drivers or how we could not live without the service they have brought to us. One thing is certain is that Uber does great things for communities in a time of need or even raising money for breast cancer and getting clothes to the Goodwill. In the latest reach to a community that is mourning and who are seeking extra safety from recent terrorist including homegrown and ones across the globe they are giving free rides for families affected and for those seeking a secure ride when going out to be with friends in their community.

Uber Competitor Lyft is also Giving Back to the LGBT Community
