If you’re a frequent international traveler, the British Airways Visa Signature card issued by Chase may be a smart choice. This card offers some specific but rather impressive benefits, particularly if you are in a position to use British Airways or their partner airlines, including American Airlines and Alaska Air, for the majority of your travel needs.
The British Airways card allows you to earn British Airways points with every purchase. You will earn 1.25 points for every dollar spent, and two points and a half for every dollar spent on British Airways tickets. It also allows you membership into the British Airways Executive Club program. If you regularly travel internationally, executive club benefits can allow you to better use your travel time and make your journey more relaxing.
You used to receive 15,000 bonus points upon your first use of the card but now they are offering 100,000 Avios points with 50,000 coming after spending $1,000, then you need to spend $10,000 to get the additional bonus points twice to get the whopping extra 50,000 Avios. One of the more useful and impressive benefits of the British Airways Visa Signature card is the free companion ticket.
These advantages can make the card an excellent choice if you travel routinely, choose to fly in upgraded seats, and routinely fly with a companion. Online payments, account access and statements are available, as with most cards today. You do have full protections against unauthorized use as well as some additional Visa Signature card benefits. Visa Signature card benefits include, among other things, a card without a spending limit should you qualify and special concierge services. Complimentary hotel room upgrades and shopping discounts may also be an option with the Visa Signature card.
While the British Airways Signature Visa offers some great benefits for travelers, you should keep in mind that the costs associated with this card may be high, especially if you do not expect to take advantage of the free companion tickets. If you expect to routinely carry a balance on your credit card, consider a card with a lower APR. If, on the other hand, you pay your card off monthly you may find that the benefits of this travel rewards card are well worth the annual fee.
Here are some examples of flights booked using Avios points:
Keep in mind these US flights are booked through the British Airways site using Avios miles on American Airlines flights.
- DFW to San Juan is 25,000 Avios roundtrip.
- ORD to Tampa is 15,000 Avios roundtrip
- DFW to Cancun is 15,000 Avios roundtrip.
- Miami to Nassau is only 9,000 Avios roundtrip.
Once you get in Europe you can use the Avios to go from various cities. London to Dublin is 4,500 Avios miles. London to Rome is anywhere from 3,750 to 7.500 Avios one way.

One of my favorite airlines is British Airways due to the fact they have a great partnership with American Airlines in their points program. Listed below you will find the benefits of this card from British Airways and how to earn more points with no limits. This may be the best time to apply for the British Airways card since the intro bonus points are so rewarding.
